Fireworks on the Lake

Went for the funniest indian movie of the year, Delhi Belly in Downtown Minneapolis:

"Delhi Belly (Hindiदिल्ली बेली) is an Indian comedy film shot in English with little Hindi,[1] directed by Abhinay Deo, starring Imran KhanKunaal Roy KapurPoorna JagannathanVir Das and Shenaz Treasurywala. The film, written by Akshat Verma, is produced by Aamir Khan Productions and UTV Motion Pictures. The theatrical trailer premièred with Aamir Khan's Dhobi Ghat on January 21, 2011 and the film released on July 1, 2011.[4][5][6] It is in the news for its catchy songs and adult language.[5"

I was falling off the chair laughing... the whole layer cake heist and the vulgar humor for an indian movie was just refreshing. I always think Bollywood takes itself too seriously, sometimes its good to laugh at itself, specially with the disco fighter spoof!

Dinner at Pizza Luce and then we drove to White Bear Lake for their fireworks:

They had a live band and a boat parade.. but we had to run away from the beach because of the mosquitoes (in 90 degree weather) and we parked strategically and saw 3 fireworks, 2 on the other side of the lake and one close to us while eating an ice cream in our air conditioned car. It was quite beautiful.

This morning started early with my summer school with teaching 7th graders math and learning how to manage kids who clearly don't want to be there. The best thing to do seems to be to ignore them when they complain, sounds easy but it really isn't, you just want to talk back and you have to hold your tongue, they really are looking for a reaction.

Juggled some work and PMI stuff during the day. Dinner at Muffulleta in St Paul and then walk in Langford Park which had the parade yesterday.

Unscripted research of the day: Lady abused a kid and killed him in the 60s, case went cold and recently she got 8 years for it. She adopted 8 kids on top of that and go away with everything!

"A Death in White Bear Lake is a true crime book by journalist Barry Siegel, published in 1990. The book recounts one of the most notorious cases of child abuse ever prosecuted in the United States, the murder of three year-old Dennis Jurgens by his adopted mother Lois Jurgens. The case was significant because the murder was committed in 1965, yet Lois Jurgens was not charged with the crime until 1986. Lois Jurgens was convicted of murder in the third degree in 1987."

More, so much for white picket fences in american suburbia, safe havens indeed!
